What is Desktop Mode?

FiiO's innovative Desktop Mode allows portable DACs to use a second usb input - exclusively to draw power from - so that it can output far higher power from its headphone amps. 

With D-Mode or Desktop Mode on, the KA13 only pulls signal from the main usb-c input, no longer drawing power for the headphone amp section. Using it at a desk, you connect a second usb-c cable into the side port, and the KA13 draws only power from this port, running the headphone amp to a much higher power level. 

The maximum sustained undistorted output power of the balanced port goes up to 550mW, which is nearly equal to some desktop devices. This allows the KA13 to drive most headphones, allowing you to enjoy quality music in both portable on-the-go and desktop use situations. This can happen without additional power draw from an ipad or phone. 

Adds a 4.4mm Balanced Output

FiiO chose a higher end configuration for the KA13 compared with many USB dongle dacs near the same price range. It features dual high-performance low-power consumption DAC chips, the CS43131 + dual low-noise op-amp chips, the SGM8262. 

The dual-core combo features excellent performance measurements and superior resolution. With support for 32bit/384kHz PCM and DSD256, the DAC is ready to use with any streaming service (perfect for Apple Music Lossless) and nearly every high-resolution music files you may own or have recorded.

The DAC features both Single Ended 3.5mm + Balanced 4.4mm dual headphone outputs: FiiO engineers repeatedly adjusted the design of the KA13 and finally managed to fit two headphone outputs in the compact dongle, marking true progress in packaging capabilities since this DAC is so thin, light and narrow - its an ideal portable size.

Perfect for Older iPhones

KA13 features a detachable cable design with a standard usb-c jack. When combined with the included Type-C and Lightning adapter cables, makes the KA13 DAC one of the best dacs for iphones. You can listen with your computer, ipad and older iphone, all without having to purchase any additional cables! 

There is even an included usb-A adaptor, perfect for anyone using this with a desktop PC or targer laptop with usb-a jack.

FiiO also added a useful, hidden background feature. FiiO included a fun feature on the KA13 in the RGB ambient light window. This RBG lighting is functional as well - it also changes colour indicating the corresponding sampling rate of the music files - adds an interesting tech to using the KA13.

FiiO KA13 supports being controlled with the FIIO Control app. With the app, you can set the RGB lights, SPDIF output, audio filters, etc. for a more convenient experience and a sharp look to the device.
